Management CAN do's
Here are some of our principles for change initiatives we
work on:
Manageable Chunks - When faced with large change
projects, we have found that the principle of manageable chunks
applies. The CAN do leader of change recognises that they
cannot eat an elephant in one sitting. They have to break
it down.
Be Deadly Serious - You have no time to waste. The
change has to be the most important thing for them. The CAN
do approach is to stop at nothing to make the change happen.
Nothing will get in your way. You identify and resolve obstacles.
Vision - Forget grand statements and months of perfectly
crafted words in a presentation - be clear on just four things:
- Know where you want to be or get to
- Know where you are
- What needs to be done to move from here to there?
- How will I measure the progress?
This allows you to develop a change plan that takes account
of what needs to done.
Communicate - Make sure that you spend a significant
amount of time and effort communicating the change. Remember
the 7 by 7 principle - you need to communicate the same thing
seven times in seven different ways for the message to be
fully heard and understood.
These four simple principles have helped us to deliver a
large number of projects.
